"The right strategy, paired with the right tools, outperforms a full agency team."

Case study 01 · Brand strategy & identity

Most brands arrive with a brief. This one arrived with a blank page. Buk Buk Chicken needed a name, a position, an identity, and a launch strategy capable of taking on established franchise players in the Jordanian fast-casual market. What it got was a complete brand ecosystem — built on rigorous strategic thinking, and finished with AI-augmented production that compressed months of agency work into a single creative vision.

The challenge

The fast-casual food market in Jordan had a clear gap — but no one had claimed it with conviction. Local chicken brands competed on price alone, while international chains leaned on heritage and scale. Neither spoke to a young, mobile-first Jordanian audience that wanted food that felt as bold and shareable as their social feeds.

The challenge was to build a brand entirely from zero — no existing identity, no agency infrastructure, no team — that could stand up against established franchise players from day one, launch across multiple touchpoints simultaneously, and be scalable enough to support a multi-location rollout. Everything had to be created: the name, the positioning, the visual identity, the guidelines, the campaigns, the packaging, the in-store experience, and the social presence.

A secondary challenge sat underneath the commercial one: to prove that a single strategic creative director, working with AI as a precision production tool, could compress what typically takes an agency team 8–12 weeks into a fraction of that timeline — without sacrificing strategic depth or creative quality.

The Craft

Strategic foundation

The first phase was entirely conventional creative direction — no tools, no generation, no shortcuts.

I developed the full brand strategy from scratch: market positioning, audience definition, brand architecture, naming, tone of voice, and a three-phase marketing plan covering pre-launch through sustained campaign rotation.

The brand truth was distilled into three words: Bold. Fun. Crispy. Every creative decision that followed was tested against this.

The name "Buk Buk Chicken" was chosen deliberately — onomatopoeic, immediately playful, and culturally accessible across Arabic and English markets. The tagline "Chicken & Burger" was kept deliberately plain: the name carries the personality, the tagline carries the clarity.

Target audience: 18–30, socially active, culturally aware, mobile-led. The brand had to be shareable by design, not as an afterthought.

Logo & core identity

The logo was the only visual element created entirely without AI — by design. It needed to be ownable, scalable, and strategically intentional. Those are qualities that require human judgment, not generation.

  • The bold "B" lettermark was engineered for versatility — legible at 16px on a phone screen and at 3 metres on an illuminated storefront fascia

  • A custom smile arc was embedded within the B as the brand's "happy" icon, reinforcing the third brand pillar: Happy Experience Every Time

  • The red/yellow palette was chosen for its appetite psychology within the fast-food category, while the custom display typeface gave the brand its own distinct voice within a crowded market

  • A five-symbol icon system was developed — Chicken, Burger, Fries, Drinks, Happy — giving every product and every brand value a visual shorthand

The logo was presented, iterated, and signed off on before any AI tool was introduced to the project.

AI-augmented production

Once the identity was locked, I wrote a precise creative brief for every remaining deliverable and used AI tools to execute production at scale. Every prompt was an act of creative direction — the output was only as strong as the strategic thinking behind it.

Brand system — Full guidelines document covering colour specifications (#E31E24, #FFB600, #FFF3DA, #4B2E20), typography hierarchy (Buk Buk Bold headers / Poppins body), icon usage rules, pattern system, and brand voice guidelines.

Environmental & retail — Illuminated box signage, building fascia, window graphics, and a full storefront visualisation showing the brand operating at real-world scale in a Jordan Street context.

Packaging — Complete suite covering burger box, popcorn chicken wrapper, fry sleeve, and drinks cup — all produced to brand specification with consistent logo placement and colour application.

Uniforms — Staff polo, cap, and apron in full brand colour application, production-ready.

Social media — Template set covering launch countdown formats, product hero posts, and campaign-specific content frames across Instagram and TikTok.

Delivery branding — Vehicle livery and delivery packaging, ensuring brand consistency extends beyond the restaurant to the customer's door.

Strategic foundation

Three fully integrated campaign concepts, each with its own strategic core idea and multi-touchpoint execution plan:

Campaign 1 — Jordan's New Crunch Obsession Position Buk Buk Chicken as the hottest arrival in Jordan — a bold, crispy movement people need to try and immediately share. Led with territorial copy (The Crunch Has Arrived), a three-phase social rollout (teaser → reveal → open), OOH billboards, an influencer "Official Crunch Dealer" unboxing kit, and a branded in-store launch event.

Campaign 2 — Crunch Loud Turn the actual sound of crunch into the brand's identity. The louder the crunch, the better the chicken. A sensory-first, TikTok-native campaign built around the #CrunchLoud challenge — supported by an ASMR video series, a guerrilla "Crunch Button" mall activation, in-store Crunch Meter displays, and copy built for sharing: Silence is suspicious. Crunch is my love language.

Campaign 3 — Built Different Buk Buk Chicken is not ordinary fast food. Everything is bigger, bolder, crispier. A premium-coded, Gen Z-targeted campaign with a rebellious editorial tone — delivered through a limited merch drop, a "Built Different Tests" social series (Sauce Pull Test, Crunch Durability Test, Burger Stack Challenge), influencer collaborations, and a high-energy store launch experience.

Target

A fully deployment-ready brand ecosystem — from strategic positioning through to campaign-level creative — produced by a single creative director to a standard that would typically require a full agency team across multiple disciplines over 8–12 weeks.

Delivered across: Logo & full visual identity · Brand guidelines · Storefront & environmental design · Full packaging suite · Uniform designs · Social media templates · Delivery & vehicle branding · 3 integrated campaign concepts across OOH, social, experiential, influencer, in-store, and merch

What does this demonstrate?

Strategic creative leadership and AI-augmented production are not in tension — they are a multiplier. The AI did not think. It did not position, name, design, or conceptualise. It executed, at speed and at scale, the precise creative vision that strategy made possible.

For any organisation hiring a Creative Director today, this project demonstrates what that role looks like at full capacity: the strategic depth of a brand consultancy, the creative range of a multidisciplinary agency, and the production velocity of a full team — directed by one person with a clear brief and a sharper workflow.
